Marsina King has been sewing and designing since she was six years old!
“My mom put me into sewing lessons when I was in first grade. I loved it.”
Marsina King of MaNoKin Design is inspired by the fabrics – the colors, textures, and patterns. Her design process starts with selecting the fabrics that will be featured in her collections.
This upcoming YYC Fashion Week, you will see silks and wool coloured in Houndstooth basics with punches of red tones on the MaNoKin Design runway. “With the Houndstooth, I discovered that I wanted to go bigger – do gathers and create volumes with this big pattern.”
Marsina is very much into mixing and matching: “I like using a lot of texture and patterns and putting together unpredictable color combinations.” This MaNoKin collection will have a lot of contrasting volumes – balancing large tops and skinny bottoms and large bottoms with skinny tops.
